What will you learn?

What will you learn in this course?

The course consists of three online sessions of 2 hours, each with its own focus:

Session 1: What is ADHD?

You will receive clear explanations of the different characteristics of ADHD, such as difficulties with attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.
We discuss possible causes, including biological and psychological factors (executive functions).
We also explore the strengths and positive qualities of children with ADHD.

Session 2: ADHD-related behaviour at home and at school

You will receive practical parenting tips and advice for home.
We discuss the importance of positive attention, structure, clarity and predictability.
You will learn how to strengthen collaboration with your child’s school so they receive the right support there.

Session 3: Treatment and looking ahead

We provide an overview of effective treatment options for different age groups.
We discuss how ADHD-related behaviour may change as your child grows older and what this means for the future.
We reflect on the impact of raising a child with signs of ADHD on you as a parent and on your family.

De opzet van de cursus

Volledig Online: De cursus bestaat uit drie online bijeenkomsten van elk 2 uur, telkens van 15.00-17.00 uur. U kunt dus deelnemen vanuit uw eigen huis.

Interactief en in groepsverband: De bijeenkomsten zijn interactief en er is veel ruimte voor het onderling uitwisselen van ervaringen met andere ouders. De groepen bestaan bij voorkeur uit vier tot acht ouderparen.

Praktisch Werkboek: U ontvangt vooraf een werkboekje met achtergrondinformatie en opdrachten om u op de bijeenkomsten voor te bereiden.

Onze wetenschappelijk onderbouwde aanpak

De Oudercursus ADHD is geen verzameling losse tips. De cursus is gebaseerd op het protocol ‘Mijn ID van ADHD’. Dit protocol is ontwikkeld op basis van de laatste wetenschappelijke inzichten en is in lijn met de landelijke Zorgstandaard ADHD (2019) en de inzichten van het Kenniscentrum Kinder- en Jeugdpsychiatrie.

Funding and fees

Municipal funding:
The course for parents may be fully funded through your child’s municipal youth care authorisation. Contact your practitioner at Uniek or our administrative team to discuss the options.

Self-funded participation:
Does your child have no municipal youth care authorisation?
You can participate privately for €480.
We encourage both parents, including those who share parenting responsibilities, to attend the course together.

Are you solely responsible for the daily care and upbringing of your child or children? You are eligible for the reduced fee of €400.

Is the ADHD course for parents right for you?

This course is for parents whose child has been diagnosed with ADHD, as well as parents who recognise clear signs of ADHD or ADHD-related behaviour in their child. Your child does not need a formal diagnosis for you to take part.
